My career started at art college, interior three-dimensional design. I always try to approach my work from an artistic or at least, personal perspective. Commercials often offer the possibility of exploring themes that I find interesting, such as narrative and storytelling, feelings and emotions, beauty, the use of colour, visual language, and composition, to name a few.
I consider myself an eclectic director.
What interests me are ideas being told in a filmic way and I am not obsessed about a particular style or genre; on the contrary, I love and always try new things. I believe in going to set each day and find new creative solutions, new camera positions, new ways of directing actors and of course, experiment with different storytelling formats, editing techniques, music etc. I never make the same film twice. However, I’m always looking for an emotional thread in all my work.
The idea, the concept and finding the way to tell a story with the tools available is what gets me excited about a campaign.
In addition to my work in advertising, I’m involved in a variety of creative projects and photography.
Born in Milan, live in Madrid, I'm English.

French born and LA based, Reynald Gresset is a director that has long since established his ability to create visually iconic films with a fair bit of emotional punch. Perhaps because his route into the shiny world of commercials came by way of documentary filmmaking and news broadcasting. Something that gave him a solid appreciation for the textures of reality and well, humanity. That in turn impacts his sensibilities as a filmmaker. Locations over builds. Real people rather than glossy ones. Stories that resonate and invite empathy. And yet his visuals are iconic and memorable, and his cinematography grand even as it stays true to life's imperfections.
It's an impactful balance of contradictions that quickly attracted some of the best agencies in the world, directing numerous and oft-awarded campaigns for brands such as Google, Honda, Genesis, Fiat, Heineken, Vodafone, Facebook, IKEA, M&M’s, Lincoln, Volkswagen, DS, Universal Studio, Walt Disney, Orange, T-Mobile, Xiaomi, Alfa Romeo, among others. With his recent McDonalds "Books" spot winning at the D&AD awards.
Asked to put Reynald in a tidy little box - we would say: C'est pas possible. His understanding of craft and ability to develop and create complex characters and weave poetic narratives seemingly has a myriad of applications. As can be seen in the work he has to his name. Some of it is playful. Some of it is poignant. Some of it is taciturn. Some of it is grand. All of it, pretty darned convincing.
